ETERNAL ICE, do strikes+drakkar+storm+big chest farming and convert to S4 currency. Extra tip: if you need gold, (for any reason) convert the S4 currency to volatile magic and buy trophy shipments. It gives T5 and T6 material which are crazy expensive right now, and the price will go up when the armory arrives.
The best way to make sure you can get everything you need and know where to find it is to play through the full Season 4 story before you begin. A large part of the skyscale’s cost is in unique resources obtained from events and resource nodes in specific Living World Season 4 explorable zones.
Combine with the collection maps on GW2 wiki for maximum profit! For the later treats and saving skyscales collections, the order as seen on Skyscale/Walkthrough - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W) might be easier to follow. Also you will need a grow lamp and 12 Skyscale food which can only be created using Charged Crystals, which you can only make 1
The biggest costs to a new player trying to get the skyscale, or any player getting the skyscale, IMO: ~ 940 gems for LS4.~ 250 of each LS4 map currency (takes a day or two to farm, but you get plenty if you play story/achievements/gather as intended).~ 23 Charged Quartz Crystals: 23 days of charging a quartz once a day at any place of power Skyscale is just for those situations when beetle won't work and griffon will be slower. Wich is basicly small parts of dragonfall. None the less its a convenient mount that's a must have for the quality of life it provides. But beetle and griffon will be the go to mounts ones you learn the areas and the game in general.For example, if I can move Skyscale's Dash ability to slot 2, key 2 (Weapon Skill 2) would make the Skyscale dash. If I place it in slot 3, it would be key 3 to dash. If I move Skyscale's Fireball to slot 4, it would be key 4 to shoot fireball. --- Allow us to place mount skills in the weapon skill slot we choose, just like with utility skills.

Skyscale rental could motivate a new player to get permanent access to skyscale at some point. The same way it did for old-timers. Posted December 22, 2021 (edited) In terms of timeline, the Griffon was released at least a year prior to Skyscales, so most players at the time, seeking an actual flying mount, rushed after the Griffon. However, with the introduction of the Skyscale, the cost of the Griffon is simply not worth the gold investment.
